Jackson's Glowing Health Report Leads To Insurance Feud

Bosses at the company behind MICHAEL JACKSON's doomed comeback concerts could lose out on a multi-million dollar insurance pay-out - because of an ongoing feud over the health report which gave him the all clear to perform.

Dr David Slavit examined the late King of Pop just weeks before he was due to begin his gruelling 50-date residency at London's O2 Arena, and filed a report with insurance company Robertson Taylor.

Officials at the firm were reportedly surprised at how positive it was and joked that Jackson sounded so healthy he had "the body of a Nasa astronaut".

The report allegedly failed to mention any of Jackson's previously publicised health problems, including a severely burnt scalp, which he suffered in an accident on the set of a 1984 Pepsi commercial.

Slavit's examination is now at the centre of a feud between the London-based insurers and Jackson's promoters AEG, the company that organised the This Is It concerts.

After receiving the glowing health report, Robertson Taylor staff arranged for their own tests to be carried out before completing the deal to insure the shows. A medic was sent to see the Thriller hitmaker in Los Angeles, but was reportedly turned away by Jackson because the star was unable to see him.

A deal was then signed insuring Jackson's London concerts, subject to the subsequent second tests, planned for 11 July (09).

But the star died on 25 June (09) before the follow-up examination could be carried out - sparking a dispute between the two parties.

A spokesperson for AEG says, "AEG did not hire any doctor at any time in connection with securing insurance. Dr David Slavit performed the medical exam which was submitted to the insurers as part of their underwriting. AEG has never received a copy of Dr Slavit's medical exam. A second medical examination was scheduled in the U.K. when the tour arrived."

Slavit has been subject to a search warrant by the Los Angeles coroner as investigations continue into Jackson's sudden death.
