Jackson Fired Quincy Jones

MICHAEL JACKSON fired longtime friend and collaborator QUINCY JONES after the producer tried to turn him into a rapper.
The pair worked together on Jackson's albums, Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad, but their relationship soured when Jones tried to steer the King of Pop's musical style towards hip-hop.
Jones tells Britain's The Guardian, "Michael fired me... He said, 'Quincy doesn't understand the business any more. He doesn't know that rap is dead'. But it's OK. It (hip-hop) wasn't so obvious then."
The pair remained friends, however, and Jackson reached out to his pal shortly before his death last year (09), while he was preparing for his London concert series.
Jones regrets he wasn't able to make the time to meet his one-time protege.
He adds, "I was in London when he sold out the 10 concerts, and then sold out 40 more. He called me. He wanted to bring the kids over. But I was with (former Harrods owner) Mohamed Al Fayed at his place. I said, 'I'll see you in Los Angeles'. And that was the last time I talked to him".

I believe that Michael fired Quincy but not that Michael said rap was dead. If Michael believed that then WHY DOES MICHAEL’S SONG BLACK OR WHITE HAVE A RAP IN IT? That doesn't make any sense at all. It was probably the other way around. Michael probably wanted some rap in his music to which Quincy probably said rap was dead. Beside Quincy, Michael was NOT a rapper, he was a SINGER - there is a difference. Lastly, Michael was NOT Quincy's protégé. Michael CO-produced Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad WITH Quincy. Michael was a major star 15 years before he ever met Quincy. Quincy also didn't like Billie Jean and didn't want it on the Thriller album but Michael FOUGHT to have it on Thriller. Then Quincy said, you need to drop the opening beats, it’s too long and people won't like it - AGAIN, QUINCY WAS WRONG. Michael fought to keep the opening beats in and won. Billie Jean is now one of the most iconic songs of all time - NO THANKS TO QUINCY JONES.

the MOST IMPORTANT thing about this article TO ME and what REALLY attracts my attention, is that AS USUAL and like EVERYBODY, NOBODY cared ENOUGH about MIKE. they always left him alone, ABANDONED, like Madonna said at the MTV awards, always "i see u later", just like Quincy said it here HIMSELF, and THEN they say they are HIS FRIENDS. yeah, SURE. NOBODY REALLY CAREDDDDDDDD. and thats why mike ended up so EXTREMELY LONELY, cause nobody REALLY wanted to be his friend or around him cause he wasnt "a match" to ANYONE since MIKE had such a NORMAL way of thinking FOR THIS WORLD that he would have NEVER found people that would think his way. so nobody ever wanted to be w him cause nobody thought like him. period. Mike wasnt made for this world. thats all. Michael didnt end up lonely cause he was super famous and he couldnt have friends because of it, Michael ended up lonely CAUSE OF HIS NORMAL PERSONALITY FOR THIS CRAZY WORLD, WHERE HE COULDNT FIND someone to think LIKE HIM. Michael has being dying of EMOTIONAL PAIN slowly for years. as HE SAID IT, i've been bleeding for too long. and i feel him 100%.

I love Quency Jones, he is one of the best composers and pruducers, Jazz and r&b, I saw him give a award to hip/hop rapper Ludacis and pherelle williams. My, my,my, Jackson had a style of his own. I don't beleive that he tryed to force him to rap. Maybe he suggested to included rapper's on his music. I don't believe that Micheal would have refused this, rap is a new way of hearing a sonnet, that is not sung but recited. it is a art form. I beleive that the both of them would have embrased the opportunity to merge with other performers. I know that Jones is a very good person, as well as Jackson. all of their work together has made the world sing toghter in harmony. No one has surpassed what the two of them did together. Right on too, two great of this mordern society of entertainment.

what i dont find ETHICAL and honest is that people come out and say things like this after mike DIED. how come this was never heard before?? how come he never said it in 30 years when mike was alive to give his opinion too? i like quincys talent, but i dont like this attitude.

I agree with MilenaK when she commented on how people are coming out with these stories now after Michael is dead, and not able to defend himself. I saw an interview with MJ and Geraldo Rivera from 2005, where Geraldo asked MJ why he didn't do any music where he actually rapped. Michael answered "Oh no. I don't think I am very good at it", then they both had a good laugh. After I thought about it, I realized just what a musical genius MJ really was. He didn't feel he rapped well enough to try and fail, but he was smart enough to reach out and get the help of the very best. Remember the Invincible CD? He had an awesome song on there called Unbreakable where he had Biggie Smalls do the rap. Michael truly was incredible, and in my opinion, people like Quincy Jones never really gave him the credit he deserved while he was alive to appreciate it.

The following you are about to lay your eyeball upon are the sayings of a Bodhisattva. Memorized and written down by a disciple Bikkhu. The reader or readers are being saluted with hands flat together and up with "Namaste"."I red in a book by Christopher Anderson that Quincy left Michael cause he became to stern. And that they had big diagreement that Quincy absolutely not wanted to have "Smooth Criminal" on the "Bad" album. Both made mistakes. They were the golden couple. But everything comes to an end. I have never seen Michael and Quincy together in public ever since. What can you describe as friendship in showbizzland? Michael was indeed very lonely in his life. But what can you do or say about it? It is the price you pay for fame. In the end Elvis trusted no one any more. Michael chose his life of fame. He could have lay low after his biggest moments. But than the world would have missed much. But the price is very lonely and in the end no one realy caring about who you are inside. But maybe at that level there isn't realy an inside anymore. In the end you don't know what you are doing anymore. And who to trust. That's the price. And the higher you rise all the more hurt and sorrow is there to experience when it all isn't the same fortune and glory anymore. Cause it all won't last forever. Who cares what news there is before or after he died. comes out after he died? The man is death. Michael could rap a little bit on the "History" album. Not that good. The "Incvincebel" sucked big time. Maybe it would have been better if Quincy worked with him. But maybe it also would have been better if he dind't decide to take Propofol.Ohm shanti."

Bhodi really needs to shut the f**k up. He is obsessed with Michael and it's very unhealthy. He really hates Michael, which means he loves Michael or wanted to be him in a way. Get help "Bhodi", it's a thin line between love and hate.

i AGREE with Milenak with both comments. I also liked what Madonna said at the MTV awards and you can tell she meant it from the heart and she was speaking the truth. Why didn't Michael so called friends their for him when he need them? IT'S A SHAME and I hope they felt SHAME!!
