Jackson Estate Executors Explain Payment Demands

MICHAEL JACKSON's estate executors have explained their demands for payment in new court documents, insisting they've been working 14-hour days, seven days a week trying to stay on top of the King Of Pop's finances since his death in June (09).

John Branca and John MCClain have filed legal papers asking for a share of the fees they have earned so far, pending court approval of the full amount.

The pair have called for unspecified fees for their "extraordinary services".

According to court documents, obtained by TMZ.com, Branca and MCClain claim they've been overwhelmed with work and have been defendants in 11 separate lawsuits.

Branca and MCClain also claim they have defended the estate from a steady barrage of attacks from the hitmaker's parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson, adding their "business reputations and the character and reputation of Michael Jackson were repeatedly assaulted by personal and unfounded attacks" which they were forced to publicly correct to protect Jackson's brand.

A hearing has been scheduled for 4 January (10) to decide how much can be paid out to the two men.

yeah my name is a joke. I think you are right Helen_C. No-0ne is stealing from Mikes kids. He owed people money so why not they get paid. Not there fault if someone dies is it. the family and kids will have enough money to see them there whole life and more unles they are like there pop and squander it. it would be stealing if pappa Joe were dealing with this stuff. he would be lining his pockets and to hell with his wife and grandchildren. I remember reading that these two were in Mikes will so he did want them doing this and the money in the pot is certainly more than what was in there to start with. I tell you another thing if people were stealing from the kids, the judge would not be paying out would he. If people are getting there money then the judge must know they are owed it. no-one is getting a penny if they are not owed it. so I see where your coming from HC. people dont understand legal stuff i suppose.

Are you kidding with those remarks? People, Michael himself named these men in his Will as Executors. They didn't apply for the job, and it is a job. If they refused to do it (because people would complain that they would be paid for doing it shock horror) then the Estate would be up in the air and Katherine and the kids would not be getting their allowance. Why? Because there would have been no Executors to fight for it in court for them. They would have NOTHING. How about this then. If not for them, Joe could possibly have control of the Estate AND BE ENTITLED TO BE PAID OUT OF IT FOR SERVICES RENDERED. How does that grab you? So what's the better option? Have professionals hand picked by Michael, or a family member? Geez you expect anyone to do that work for nothing? They were chosen by Michael himself. Do you think Michael didn't know they would be entitled to payment for their services. Services carried out on behalf of Michael and his family? For their benefit? Get this, even if Joe were in charge of the Estate, not only could he make it lucatrive for himself, he would be paid for doing so. Executors are chosen by the writer of the Will and ALL Executors (regardless of whose Estate they are handling) are paid from the Estate they are handling. Feel sorry for Executors of Estates that have zilch in them. The Execturos for the Estate of Elvis are (were) being paid out of his Estate. The Executors of the Estate of Princess Diana are (were) being paid for their work out of her Estate. Just because this is about Michael does not make it different for his Executors. In fact, be thankful it's them and not Joe. And be thankful they undertook such a mammoth job and didn't turn their backs and leave it in the hands of the family. What do you think the Estate would have been worth with Joe or Jermaine at the helm? Not what it is now I bet. I've said this every time someone moans about creditors etc. People are due money. Just because the person who owes it died does not cancel the debt. It just means they have to claim their payment from the Estate and not the person. Just because it's MJ does not mean that it's stealing either. It's exactly the same with his debts as it was for Evlis' and Dianas' and anyone else who passes. If you don't understand that then look at it this way. If Michael paid his debts before he died, the Estate would be minus those amouts because the monies would not have been there to transfer to the Estate. Whether it came out of Michael's bank account before he passed, or out of his Estate after makes no difference. The amount would be 'deducted' at some point. Regardless, Michael's children will be financially set for life. They will never have to worry about financial matters. I think they are missing their daddy more than they would miss his money. Instead of making these comments about Branca and McClaine, be thankful they are doing as Michael asked. Looking after his affairs and family. It's sad but Michael is worth more now than he was seven months ago. Even with creditors and Executors paid, his value is significantly increased. The kids will not suffer and no-one is stealing their money. Oh my that was a rant and I never intended it but be fair and understanding about how these things work. No point bashing people because you don't understand . I think these men are worth every penny, considering what they have done for the children and their inheritance.
