Jack White Stuns Guests By Appearing At Blunderbuss Playback
Jack White surprised guests at a playing of his new album Blunderbuss by turning up in person. The record was played out in full in the debating chamber at London's County Hall in front of 200 guests.
The White Stripes singer and guitarist was first seen on a large projector screen, putting the needle down on the vinyl copy of Blunderbuss. He then reappeared halfway through the airing to turn the vinyl over. What guests had assumed to be a pre-recorded clip was actually a live stream - White had really been in a side room off the chamber.
The Mayor Councillor Christiana Valcarcel, who is the Mayor of Lambeth, gave positive feedback to Blunderbuss after it had finished, before inviting the musician out on stage, to the delight of the fans in attendance. There then followed a short interview and the chance for the guests to ask questions to White.
White is well known for his numerous projects, which include the RACONTEURS; the DEAD WEATHER and, of course, the White Stripes, which also featured then wife Meg White. The upcoming Blunderbuss is his debut solo album, which will be released though his own label, Third Man Records, in April 2012. To promote the release, White will be embarking on tour throughout the US; the UK and Europe. He will only be playing two UK dates, though; he will play the Hammersmith Apollo on June 22nd, followed by a set at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend Festival, which will take place at the Hackney Marshes, over the weekend of June 23-24 2012.
