Jack Osbourne: Not The Only Star To Suffer From Multiple Sclerosis

Jack Osbourne, 26, the son of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis after losing 60 per cent of the sight in one eye. The television star revealed the news to Hello magazine, stating, "I was just angry and frustrated and kept thinking, 'Why now?".

Jack recently became a father to baby-girl Pearl Clementine, and is set to marry fiancee Lisa Stelly. There is no cure for multiple sclerosis (MS), which attacks the central nervous system. Symptoms include loss of muscle control, difficulties with vision and balance, and in the most severe cases, paralysis. Though the news is certainly a blow for Osbourne and his young family, he's by no means the only celebrity to suffer with the disease. One of the most high profile sufferers of MS is Ann Romney, the wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who could find herself as the First Lady of the United States later this year. Another to suffer with MS was the legendary American comedian and actor Richard Pryor, who was diagnosed with the disease in 1986, at age of 46. Clive Burr, the former drummer with heavy metal outfit Iron Maiden, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the early 1980s. The band subsequently staged a series of charity concerts for the musician, as well as being involved in the founding of the 'Clive Burr MS Trust Fund'.

Jack first found fame in the MTV reality series 'The Osbournes', which followed hisoften eventful family life. Since the show ended, Osbourne has worked as a music talent scout for Epic Records.

I've been recently diagnosed with MS and it's not a happy time but now after reading a lot, I'm wondering if what I have isn't Lyme disease instead which presents most of the symptoms that MS does but often isn't tested for.Take heart that it might not be MS but possibly Lyme disease instead - a disease that can be treated with a longterm course of antibiotics. I know it's longshot but could be worth it.For symptoms check Dr. E. Murakami Centre for Lyme
