It's Official: Seth Meyers To Take Over Late Night
NBC confirmed on Sunday that Seth Meyers will replace Jimmy Fallon on Late Night when Fallon takes over hosting of the Tonight show from Jay Leno next year. Meyers has been a cast member and head writer on Saturday Night Live. Lorne Michaels, the producer of SNL, will also take over as executive producer of both Tonight and Late Night when the transition occurs, presumably following the Winter Olympics. Both shows will originate in New York City. NBC presumably hopes that Meyers and Fallon, both SNL veterans, will attract a younger audience, but there has been little evidence that that audience is even awake in substantial numbers after 11:30 p.m. on weekdays.
