Islamic Protests Heighten Against Offensive Us Video

There have been widespread Islamic demonstrations against a film believed to be against the faith, with trouble in Sudan, Tunisia, Egypt and Pakistan among other countries. A film made in the US called the Innocence of Muslims has caused outrage across the Middle East, with American Embassies being attacked by those furious at how their faith has been portrayed, according to USA Today.

There have been attempts to calm the episode, which has now seen a number of deaths. Egypt's Islamist president, Mohammed Morsi, went on state TV and urged Muslims to protect foreign diplomatic missions. "It is required by our religion to protect our guests and their homes and places of work," he said. The American ambassador to Libya was also killed this week, in a related event, and Morsi condemned that saying "To God, attacking a person is bigger than an attack on the Kaaba," he said, referring to Islam's holiest site in Mecca.

In the Sudanese capital, the German Embassy was set on fire, whilst in Tunisia the US Embassy was broken into. The numbers weren't huge everywhere, and a lot of the protests were peaceful; however the whole event is bad news for the USA, with the elections now just a couple of months ago all eyes are going to be on current President Barack Obama to see how he reacts with the escalating situation.
