Is Mariah Carey Replacing Jennifer Lopez On American Idol?
Given the confirmation from Aerosmith's Steven Tyler that he will not be rejoining Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez at the American Idol judges' table next season- and amid rumours that J'Lo also looks likely to be following suit - the 42-year-old Carey may be ready to fill-in one of the vacant seats. A source close to the show told the magazine that "they are in serious talks" with Carey over taking up a role on the show, however nothing has been confirmed so far.
Whilst Tyler's declination of committing to another season has been officially made, J-Lo has yet to make a concrete statement saying she will leave. However, on her appearance on the Today show this week, she dropped an enormous hint that she will be on her way out, saying: "I am thinking that it's time for me to go." Randy Jackson, the only member of the panel to have been in place since day one, has worked with Carey throughout her career and could potentially have an influence over the singer when it comes to her taking on the new role.
