Is John Carter Making A Comeback On Dvd?

Will John Carter , which turned out to be the Walt Disney Co.'s biggest bomb in the studio's history when it debuted at the box office this year, be redeemed on the home-video market? That possibility emerged Wednesday as Nielsen VideoScan First Alert placed the movie at No. 1 on its DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales charts. The tracking company does not disclose how much revenue was actually earned by the film, but it did get a boost from post-Memorial Day shopping, analysts noted. Fox's Act of Valor , a relatively low-budget effort, finished a close second, while Universal's Safe house came in at No. 3. All three films were in a very tight race, the survey said.

I was lucky enough to have seen this movie in March in the IMAX and loved this movie. I have been telling friends and family until I was blue in the face how good this movie was. And now the people who were scared off by the media flop reports and the critics animosity anr now finding out for themselves what I discovered in March. That John Carter is a good movie that got a raw deal. Disney through it under the bus with poor promotion and advertising. The only hype this movie received was bad press from Rich Ross, his subsequent job loss, the 200 million dollar write down at end of 1st quarter. A figure that has been disputed but not by the lazy media. They all cut and pasted the press release from Disney and the fix was in. Thank you to the word of mouth of the fans of this movie for changing the buzz. Hey Disney Take me back to Barsoom, I want the trilogy that Andrew Stanton envisioned .

I swear this media smear campaign will not stop. Making 32 million more that your production budget is NOT A FLOP! It made 282 million for crissake! This is bordering on freaking conspiracy. The word of mouth about this movie is what saved it. It had fans! Not just mindless movie goers willing to shell out a ticket to whatever crap gets shoved their way. The movie earned 282 million even when the marketing completely sucked! How many blockbusters can say they’ve pulled that off? Not many. The fans all knew that the DVD sales would go through the roof. We couldn’t WAIT for that Blue Ray to come out! It seems like now the entertainment media is doing damage control to save their smear campaign so as not to have egg on their faces. Biggest flop in history? Movies cost more to make every year exponentially so I guess you could manipulate that fact to fit your statement. But seriously guys, what are you going to say when this thing breaks even after DVD sales? You’re going to bury the story, that’s what. Glad the fans gave this great movie the new life it deserved. - Exotok
