Neil Jordan - Irish Director Neil Jordan Knocked Down By Bus
Oscar-winning filmmaker Neil Jordan was hospitalised on Friday (19Apr13) after he appeared to be clipped by the side of a bus in Dublin, Ireland.
The Irish director was standing on the corner of a sidewalk near St. Stephen's Green, waiting to cross the road, when he was allegedly struck by the Dublin Bus vehicle, knocking him to the ground.
Jordan, who was already carrying a walking aid, lay on his back motionless in the immediate aftermath of the accident, before screaming out in pain.
Photos obtained exclusively by Wenn depict passers-by rushing to help as the 63 year old reportedly complained about his back and clutched his leg.
He also appealed for witnesses to help establish what had happened.
An ambulance was called to the scene and he was taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment for his injuries.
Details about his current condition are unknown and a representative for Jordan, who won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for 1992 psychological thriller The Crying Game, had yet to respond to requests for a comment as Wenn went to press.
Addressing the incident, a Dublin Bus spokeswoman tells the Irish Sun, "There was an incident with a number 15 bus which was turning right on to Dawson Street at 11am. We are investigating the incident fully and will be going through Cctv as well as interviewing the driver."
