Inxs - Inxs Stars Thank Fans As They Confirm Split

The group sent fans into a frenzy on Sunday (11Nov12) when drummer Jon Farriss told the crowd at a gig in Perth they would no longer be touring.

Now the bandmembers - brothers Tim, Andrew and Jon Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Garry Gary Beers - have spoken out to bid farewell to their loyal devotees and announce the show Down Under was their last.

An official statement from the group reads, "We understand that this must come as a blow to everybody, but all things must eventually come to an end. We have been performing as a band for 35 years, it's time to step away from the touring arena. Our music will of course live on and we will always be a part of that."

The Need You Tonight hitmakers started out in Sydney in 1977 and were fronted by Michael Hutchence before his death in 1997. They have since worked with singers Jimmy Barnes, Terence Trent D'Arby, Jon Stevens, J.D. Fortune, and Ciaran Gribbin as replacements for the late frontman.
