Internet pop sensation Rebecca Black is donating proceeds from her digital download sales on iTunes to Japanese disaster relief charities, because she feels guilty about stealing headlines from the earthquake/tsunami tragedies.
The teenage singer/songwriter has become an overnight sensation since posting a video performance of her song Friday on last month (Feb11), and now she's making a small fortune selling the tune via iTunes.
But she feels for the people of Japan and insists it's time for her to help them out.
She tells, "I think that I get 60 per cent (of sales). I am donating money to my school and Japan. My school, El Rancho Charter, is really where I started focusing on singing.
"(And) I feel bad (that) Japan happened so close to mine (story), and I feel like I'm taking away attention from it. I really just want to give back."
