Indonesian Police Ban Lady Gaga Concert In Jakarta
It's not just the police protesting against Miss Germanotta's presence in the country, though. Their decision is thought to have been influenced by a group of "Islamic hard-liners" by the name of The Islamic Defenders Front. The group had vowed to intercept Gaga as she arrived in the country and are said to be concerned that she would "undermine Indonesia's moral fibre." The movement's boss in Jakarta, Salim Alatas told reporters "She's a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil's child and that she will spread satanic teaching. This is dangerous."
The concert cannot go ahead without a letter of recommendation from the police but Jakarta's senior police commander said "We will not issue a permit for the Lady Gaga concert in Jakarta. The first thing we've heard from various public leaders is that Lady Gaga doesn't deserve the attention of so many people. They said her outfits are too sexy, indulgent and erotic."
