Indigo Girls Record Christmas Album
The INDIGO GIRLS have joined the growing list of 2010 Christmas crooners - they have recorded a folk-rock holiday album.
The duo is hoping fans will love the bluegrass-tinged classics on their upcoming record Holly Happy Days, which features guest vocals from singer Brandi Carlile.
The collection of festive favourites includes standards such as O Holy Night and I'll Be Home For Christmas, and they've also recorded a rendition of Woody Guthrie's Happy Joyous Hanukkah with singers Janis Ian and Mary Gauthier.
Indigo Girl Emily Saliers tells Reuters, "Both Amy and I love Appalachian and bluegrass music, and we just thought it would be so much fun to have it be of that ilk... It was maybe the most fun I've ever had making a record, loving your job and getting excited every morning to get up and go into the studio. It was a joy."
The Indigo Girls will face plenty of competition this Christmas - Mariah Carey, Scott Weiland, Jessica Simpson and the late Bing Crosby will all have musical gifts in record stores.
