Bigfoot Entertainment, a producer of independent movies and TV shows, will no longer have to face the problem of finding a theater to exhibit its productions in Los Angeles. It has purchased the Majestic Crest Theater in Westwood, one of the most prestigious theaters in the Los Angeles area, for about $4 million, the Los Angeles Times reported today (Wednesday). "We wanted a great theater to showcase our films, not only ones we produce but ones we plan to acquire," Bigfoot CEO Kacy Andrews, told the newspepr. "Everyone knows the Crest. It gives us a lot of prestige." Bigfoot's principal financial backer is a Hong Kong equity firm, Bigfoot Ventures, which owns a 14-percent stake in Carmike Cinemas, which owns theaters in Arizona, Washington and Oregon and which recently purchased another prestigious Los Angeles theater, The Bridge, from Sumner Redstone's National Amusements Co.
