Simon Bird - Inbetweeners Hit Restaurants During Shooting

Blake Harrison has revealed the 'Inbetweeners' cast spent their free time in restaurants while shooting their upcoming movie.

Unlike their immature onscreen personas, Simon Bird, Blake Harrison, Joe Thomas and James Buckley opted for sampling the local cuisine and wine over wild partying while filming scenes in Malia on the Greek island of Crete.

Blake - who portrays slow-witted teenager Neil Sutherland in the movie and previous TV series - revealed: "We had a lovely time but the thing is, our idea of a good time is going into a bar and ordering tapas and drinking red wine. That was about as mental as it got."

However, James - who plays foul-mouthed Jay Cartwright - still has a lot to learn about appreciating fine wine and gave his co-stars a big laugh when he unwittingly tried to chill a bottle of red, which is best drunk at room temperature.

Joe told BANG Showbiz: "There was a funny moment when James Buckley stuck a merlot in a chiller. What an idiot!"

The foursome have been filming since January and Simon has revealed there are only a few scenes left to shoot for the project - which is due to be released in August.

Simon - who plays geeky Will McKenzie - said: "We're filming some more scenes in a couple of weeks time, but it's mostly done."

The Fault in Our Stars

Fans lined the streets outside London's May Fair Hotel to glimpse the cast of the teen hit The Fault in Our Stars as they attended a special gala screening in advance of the film's opening in Britain this weekend. Ansel Elgort, Nat Wolff and Laura Dern chatted to the fans as they attended the event along with Greg Wise and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams. Read our The Fault in Our Stars review here.

Meanwhile in Hong Kong, cast and crew turned out for a rain-soaked world premiere of Transformers: Age of Extinction, including director Michael Bay and stars Mark Wahlberg Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci and Li Bingbing. The Imagine Dragons did a live performance as part of the film's celebrations. Mark Wahlberg and his Transformers: Age Of Extinction castmates had to brave monsoon conditions for the world premiere of the action film in Hong Kong on Thursday (19Jun14).

In Wales, filming is underway on the movie Take Down, with Jeremy Sumpter (Friday Night Lights), Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), Dominic Sherwood (Vampire Academy) and Phoebe Tonkin (The Vampire Diaries). Photographers caught the crew shooting around the South Stack Lighthouse in Holyhead. Directed by Jim Gillespie (I Know What You Did Last Summer), it's about boarding school students fighting criminals who have invaded their school. Photos of filming taking place for 'Take Down' on location at the South Stack Lighthouse - Monday 16th June 2014.

Guardians of the Galaxy

There's a new international trailer for Marvel's upcoming blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, which introduces a new team of rebellious superheroes played by Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista, plus costars Glenn Close, John C. Reilly and Josh Brolin. It looks both funny and explosive, and opens next month. Watch 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Trailer.

We also got a trailer for The Inbetweeners 2, a sequel to the mega-hit comedy based on the British TV series. This time, our four intrepid dorks head to Australia for some extreme sports-related activities along with the usual hapless girl-chasing. Stars Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas are all back on board. The film hits UK cinemas in August. Watch 'The Inbetweeners 2' Trailer.

The Equalizer

This week also saw the first trailer for the film version of the 1980s TV show The Equalizer, about a former special-ops agent who becomes a vigilante crime fighter. In the title role, Denzel Washington reunites with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua for the thriller, which also stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman. It opens in September. Watch 'The Equalizer' Trailer.

And finally, the first trailer for the Farrelly brothers' sequel Dumb and Dumber To was released this week, catching up with Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey in their iconic idiotic roles some 20 years later. It looks utterly ridiculous, but there are at least three big laughs in the trailer alone, which hopefully bodes well. The film opens in November. Watch 'Dumb and Dumber To' Trailer.

'The Inbetweeners 2' Movie Looks Pant-Wettingly Hilarious [Trailer] 4248611 News

The trailer has finally been released for the long-awaited sequel to 2011's The Inbetweeners Movie, The Inbetweeners 2. Jay, Simon, Neil and Will are back for another round of lewd, rude and cringe-worthy hijinks...but this time they're Down Under.

The Inbetweeners 2 Jay Will Neil Simon
The Sequel Sees The Guys Applying Their Very Unique Girl-Charming Skills Down Under.

Yes indeed, after the last movie was set mainly in Malia where the guys ventured for their summer holiday, the sequel will be based in Australia as the boys take a gap year before embracing their lives as adults. "You know why they call it Down Under?" says Jay. "'Cause that's where your face spends most of the time."

And so forth. Simon (Joe Thomas), Will (Simon Bird) and Neil (Blake Harrison) decide to pay Jay (James Buckley) a visit on his gap year in Australia. They rent an explicitly-decorated but still naff car called "The Mobile Virgin Conversion Unit" and take to the beaches, roads and outback of Oz in search of Aussie girls to ogle.

Set after the exploits of the first film, we see that of the romances the guys embarked on during their holiday, only Simon's has lasted. However, Lucy (Tamla Kari) is a little clingy and is irrationally paranoid Simon will cheat on her whilst he's away.

Whilst Simon struggles to dump his overbearing girlfriend, the other guys set about applying their effortless "charm" and "magnetism" to anything without a 'y' chromosome. Of course, Simon, Jay and Neil still find Will's mum hot, which makes for some interesting Skype chats, and Jay is still full of the same revolting sexual metaphors.

More: Simon Bird says "the first film was a good conclusion to 'The Inbetweeners.'"

The first movie seemed to be wrapped up pretty neatly by the end, leaving doubts over whether a sequel would be attempted. However, the comedy's unprecedented box office success and popularity lead producers and cast to begin to court the idea of more. TV series creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have taken over from Ben Palmer to direct the second movie and have also written the script.

More: 'Inbetweeners' star Emily Atack receives death threats via Twitter.

The trailer was debuted on Facebook this morning by the official Inbetweeners page. "We're especially happy with the trailer as we think it's funny and - we promise - none of the best jokes are in it. None. We did that so that hopefully you'll still get surprised in the cinema, and enjoy the film even more," read the caption, which naturally set fans' expectations high for the movie's rapidly approaching August release.

The Inbetweeners 2 will be released on the 6th August.

The Inbetweeners 2 4248392 Videos 18th June 2014

The four musketeers are back once again after their eventful (and mostly deeply embarrassing) post-A Level escapades in Malia. While we saw them apparently bag themselves the girls of their dreams, unsurprisingly it doesn't look like the romance has lasted and now they are back to their single selves - well, apart from Simon. When Simon, Will and Neil decide to join Jay on his gap year in sunny Australia, Simon struggles to dump his overbearing and uber needy girlfriend. He's still as awkward as ever, Neil's still stupid, Jay is still a total liar and Will's mum is still fit, but the boys have a brand new car now dubbed the 'Mobile Virgin Conversion Unit'. Armed with sunscreen, condoms and bags of charm, these lads are on one last mission to climb the social hierarchy ladder.

'The Inbetweeners 2' follows on from the pre-university lads' holiday of 'The Inbetweeners Movie'; an award winning big screen spin-off of the popular Channel 4 comedy series. With Ben Palmer having directed the first movie, creators of the TV series Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have taken on the role this time while also writing the script. The movie is scheduled to hit the UK and Ireland on August 6th 2014.

The Inbetweeners Movie Sequel Will Be Set In Australia, But Why? 3977703 News

The cast of The Inbetweeners will be headed to Australia to film the next feature-length chapter in the crude and hilarious exploits of the four friends, Neil, Simon, Jay and Will. The 2011 movie was so well received that the comedy's creators have set their sights on another movie, this time set Down Under, according to Iain Morris and Damon Beesley.

Producers have confirmed that The Inbetweeners Movie 2 will be shot in Australia this month before the team heads back to the UK in January with a Summer 2014 release date pencilled in, according to distributor EFD, via Digital Spy. There's little confirmed information about the new film's plotline at the moment but the show's creators have revealed where the sequel will be set.

Morris and Beesley, who both wrote the script and will be directing the comedy film, said in a statement: "We can't say too much as we don't want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas.

"Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon, providing they're let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support, we're hoping to deliver a film that you'll enjoy even more than the last one."

The highly awarded sitcom began life on the television screen where it aired for three seasons until the friends finished college and headed off into adulthood. A US version of The Inbetweeners TV series was shown last year but bombed with critics and ended after just one series.

Drop Everything Else, 'The Inbetweeners' Are Coming Back In 2014! 3794429 News

In a year filled with sequels, the announcement of the second Inbetweeners movie still comes as a bit of a surprise. But the first movie, based on the cult E4 show did go on to become a huge hit, so the second one is probably a good investment. The 2011 Inbetweeners movie, which centered around Will, Jay, Simon and Neil heading off to the Greek island of Crete for a post-graduation holiday, became the highest grossing comedy in the history of British cinema. With an opening weekend of £13 million and over £80 million in worldwide earnings, the film set the bar high for future sequels.

Guess who's back?

Filming on Part 2 begins later this year and the film is set to be released in August 2014. Creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said in a statement for the BBC: "We couldn't be more excited to be making another Inbetweeners movie."

They continued: "A new chapter in the lives of the Inbetweeners feels like the very least we can do to thank the fans for their phenomenal response to the first movie."

Simon Bird, Inbetweeners Premiere
With college far in the past, this is a whole new chapter.

Morris and Beesley also took the opportunity to dispel rumors of the film being shot in Australia, which had been swirling earlier this year. However, loyal fans will be glad to know that the original cast - Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas – will return for this installment.

Simon Bird: "The first film was a good conclusion to 'The Inbetweeners' 3312226 News

Star of 'Friday Night Dinner' and teen comedy 'The Inbetweeners' Simon Bird has quelled rumours that a new Inbetweeners movie may be in the pipeline.

Speculation erupted earlier this year as to whether the team would reconvene for a sequel, when Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, creators of The Inbetweeners, told The Sun that they were "developing an idea for a sequel". In response to this however, Bird said that whether the project actually goes ahead depends on whether there is a "strong enough idea" and repeated that there "are no concrete plans" for it to be taken forward at this point.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Bird said "I think we all feel like the first film was a good conclusion to The Inbetweeners - but at the same time... if they come to us and say that they have a good idea for another one, then obviously we'd be happy to talk about it. They haven't done that yet, despite the papers saying that a sequel is confirmed." Although this isn't a concrete 'no' it certainly looks as though we might be waiting a long while for a sequel. If fans are heartbroken over this news, check out the US remake of the comedy, which began broadcasting on MTV this August.

With a £45m UK Box office revenue being taken at the release of the first film, it's easy to see why Beesley and Morris may want to continue the franchise, but the members of the cast are not desperate to get back to their roles. Simon Bird's other great success, 'Friday Night Dinner' returns this Sunday on Channel 4.
