Harry Potter - Imelda Staunton Picks Up Theatre Award

Harry Potter actress Imelda Staunton has triumphed over her Sweeney Todd co-star Michael Ball at the 2012 Theatre Awards Uk.

Staunton and Ball, who play murderous partners in crime in the Stephen Sondheim production, went head-to-head at the London prizegiving, where they were both nominated in the Best Performance in a Musical category.

But it was Staunton who came out on top as the winners were unveiled at a ceremony on Sunday (28Oct12).

Acting duo Prunella Scales and Timothy West also walked away with The Stage Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Theatre in recognition of their longstanding commitment to productions outside the British capital.

The Theatre Awards Uk celebrate outstanding stage achievements throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
