Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia is urging her fans to donate to the flood appeal in her native country after seeing the shocking images of devastation just "an hour away" from where she lives.
The Torn hitmaker flew into Queensland earlier this week (begs10Jan11) and has been left horrified by the impact of floodwaters which are causing chaos in the state.
She's now asked her online followers to back the government's fundraising drive to help those affected by the crisis - and admits she still "can't believe" the scale of the disaster.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page on Wednesday (12Jan11), she writes, "The floods in Sth East QLD (Queensland) are devastating. In OZ call 1800219028 to donate. I am only an hour away... And can't believe this is happening.
"For the QLD floods www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html. 90 missing. People have lost there (sic) homes and are stranded. Please donate.
"I arrived in QLD from Mexico yesterday and saw shocking images on news. It happened so fast people had no time to get out. Can't believe it."
Thousands of residents have been evacuated, 12 killed and a number are still missing since the deluge of floodwaters intensified earlier this month (Jan11).
