I'm A Celebrity Campmates Discuss Their 'Jungle Journey'by Contributor | 05 December 2008
The remaining contestants on I'm A Celebrity
Get Me Out of Here! have opened up about their emotional jungle experiences.
After Simon Webbe's eviction, only four celebrities remain in the camp as the current series of the ITV1 reality show nears its close.
Joe Swash, Martina Navratilova and George Takei all spoke of their most moving moments in the jungle while David Van Day continued to dwell on his rivalry with former campmate Nicola McLean.
After almost three weeks in the jungle, former women's number one tennis player admitted her stay in camp had been "a long schlep".
"We have to keep control of everything but you have to put everything in perspective and not get too overwrought," she continued.
"I cried a few times, mostly for other people. Once I lost it because of mum, but the other times it was feeling happy or sad for other people."
"I've had my moments in here but the surroundings brings it out. You have extremes of emotions here because everyone's on edge."
Joe - the favourite to win the eighth series of the show - admitted that receiving a video message from his mother "tore me to pieces".
"It's the most emotional I've been for years, really hit a nerve and it feels like we haven't seen them for years," the former EastEnders actor explained.
And fellow thespian George also considered his emotions while on the show, labelling it "the most memorable and unusual experience in my life".
He added that his most moving moment was receiving a video from his husband Brad and that he felt honoured to have reached the final four.
And David, the cause of many arguments in the show, unsurprisingly chose to reminisce about his personal battles with other campmates,
"They made us [David and Timmy Mallett] feel like complete outsiders - it was diabolical and they've all paid for it dearly," the ex-Dollar singer continued.
"In spite of all the gloom and doom Timmy and I stuck together and wrote our song Biff, Baff, Boff."
He added: "Nicola had an instant dislike to me from the first time we met."
