The Wire star Idris Elba has signed up for a seven-week residency as Dj in a London nightclub.
The British actor, who Djs under the name Driis, will hit the decks at the Love & Liquor hotspot in the Kilburn area of the U.K. capital every Friday night.
Talking about his new gig, Elba tells the London Evening Standard newspaper, "Why do I Dj? Because I just love music. I don't have to, but I love to do it. We used to make the ladies leave their shoes at the front door. Why? Because I like feet. Simple tips.
"I'm not going to say I'm the best Dj in the world. But I know how to throw a good party. Driis, Idris Elba, whatever you want to call me, presents a night at Love & Liquor."
Elba previously admitted he enjoys the anonymity of being a Dj: "People will come up to the booth, and be like, 'Wait a second, is that...?' But by that point, they're just enjoying that I'm playing good music... When you have a bunch of film fans that show up to a gig, they want to take pictures and stare. They have no appreciation for what I'm doing... Smaller, great-sounding rooms with just enough people to work - that's my forte."
