Idris Elba - Idris Elba Confirms 'Thor 2' Role After Globes Success
Idris Elba had a good night at the weekend's Golden Globes Awards, walking off with the Best Performance By An Actor In A Mini-Series Or A Motion Picture Made For Television - a long winded title which basically means he was very, very good in the Bbc series 'Luther,' in which he plays a troubled detective. Whilst commenting on his delight at the success of the "small show" against bigger names, the actor couldn't resist talking about several upcoming projects that are truly massive in scope.
The exciting news for everyone, reports Mtv, is that the star will be appearing in a sequel to the Marvel comic film adaptation of 'Thor' - though he drew the line at confirming that his marvel character Heimdall would also be returning in another 'Avengers film. "'Thor 2'for sure," he enthused, adding "'Avengers,' we're not sure about, but 'Thor 2' we're going at it again."
What the actor really seemed excited about however was his forthcoming role in Guillermo Del Toro's epic monster versus robot film 'Pacific Rim' - the director's first since 2008's 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army.' "I love it," he enthused, "Guillermo's a genius, and the film we're making is a huge film, bad monster movie and robots and me." With both 'Thor 2' and 'Pacific Rim' scheduled for release in 2013, Elba may not be blowing up this year but the portents are certainly there.
