Idol Ties Series Low, Still Wins
Even a weak American Idol can be stronger than anything else offered during primetime on a given night. Such was the case on Thursday when Idol 's ratings matched its series low for a results show, but nevertheless captured 14.59 million viewers. Nothing else came close. In the 8 00 p.m. hour opposite Idol, CBS came in second with a repeat of The Big Bang Theory, which drew 9.25 million. ABC's missing placed third with 7.08 million, while NBC, with new episodes of Community (registering a series low) and 30 Rock, averaged just 3.04 million. Making things seem slightly dicier for Idol, it was unable to deliver a sizable percentage of its audience to its leadout, Touch . Commented Marc Berman, the longtime ratings columnist, " American Idol is no longer the force it once was."
