The Stone Roses - Ian Brown Relaunches Engineering Scholarship
The Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown has relaunched a scholarship for hard-up students keen to become audio engineers and producers.
The fund will award over $240,000 (£150,000) towards tuition fees to prospective students at the School of Sound Recording (Ssr) in London and his native Manchester, England.
In addition, a bursary scheme provides 20 half-price places on the same course for successful applicants, according to Nme.com.
Brown, who is preparing for his band's Friday night (12Apr13) gig at the Coachella festival in California, says, "When Ssr first approached me about the original scholarship in London I was only too happy to help and put my name to it, and after the amazing year we have had with the Roses the time is right to kick-off again with more scholarships for 2013.
"I hope this new scholarship and bursary fund will help out and inspire more talent to get into the music industry."
