Human Target Being Replaced By Zooey Deschanel Comedy

HUMAN TARGET, the action-drama series starring MARK VALLEY, has been axed by bosses at Fox. HUMAN TARGET, loosely based on the DC comic book of the same name, premiered in January 2010 and was renewed for a second season which premiered on 17th November.

In a brutal culling, Fox has decided to axe five of its most under-performing shows, with Human Target perhaps the most surprising of the cancellations. Christian Slater's 'Breaking In' was also given the chop, as was JESSICA BEALS' 'The Chicago Code' and the psychological drama 'Lie To Me'. 'Human Target', which followed the life of a San Francisco based private bodyguard, averaged 7.6 million viewers and a 2.2 rating with adults between 18-49. However, Fox are increasingly keen to axe their modestly performing titles and gamble on new shows. The network has already picked up two new series' to replace the outgoing few, with the comedy-drama 'The New Girl' expected to debut in the fall. The show features Zooey Deschanel and has been written by up-and-coming comic actor JAKE M. JOHNSON. Fox has also picked up 'I Hate My Teenage Daughter', which stars Jaime Pressly as a young woman who was tormented by 'mean girls' when she was younger.

In 2010, 'Human Target' was nominated for three Emmy Awards in the categories of 'Outstanding Stunt Coordination', 'Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music' and 'Outstanding Main Title Design'.
