Hugo Weaving - Hugo Weaving Found His Role In Transformers 'Meaningless'

Whilst it remains one of his lesser known roles, Hugo Weaving has admitted that his part in the Transformers films was certainly one of his least favorite.

The actor, better known for his roles in Lord of the Rings, The Matrix and Captain America: The First Avenger, recently spoke to Collider about his many roles and the progress of his next role in The Hobbit and also had something to say about his role as the voice of Decepticon head-honcho Megatron in the Transformers franchise, one that was hardly complementary of the Michael Bay project.

He told the website: "It was one of the only things I've ever done where I had no knowledge of it.They wanted me to do it. In one way, I regret that bit. I don't regret doing it, but I very rarely do something if it's meaningless. It was meaningless to me, honestly."

Although insisting that he didn't mean any of this in a "nasty way," it still seems that Weaving was less than enthused about his role in the film nonetheless, joining co-stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox in discussing their parts in the film in a disparaging tone.

Looks like bad news for Weaving though, as the film's director /producer Bay has hit back by namelessly condemning the stars who complain about their work. He told New York Magazine's Vulture section: Be happy you even have a job - "What happened to people who had integrity, who did a job, got paid for their hard work, and just smiled afterward? Be happy with your job - let alone a job that pays you more than 98 percent of the people in America."

Look like Bay might be looking for another Megatron for Transformers 4 then.
