Hook's Anniversary Visit To Curtis' Grave

British rocker PETER HOOK paid an emotional visit to his late JOY DIVISION bandmate IAN CURTIS' grave on the 30th anniversary of his death this week (beg17May10).
The bass player tended the star's burial site in MACclesfield, England on Tuesday morning (18May10) to mark 30 years since Curtis committed suicide in 1980.
He then went on to stage a special one-off gig in the band's hometown of Manchester, during which he performed their 1979 debut album Unknown Pleasures in full.
Hook tells NME.com, "I went to see Ian's grave this morning as it was such a beautiful day that I thought I'd go and say hello to him and see how he was. It's really odd after all these years, that when you go and do something like that, that you see all these tributes (at the grave) and it's really nice."
The 54 year old admits preparing for the concert was a reflective time for him, adding: "The preparation for the gig was very interesting as it was the first time I'd analysed the music since we wrote it. The funny thing is I never realised how many words Ian used to sing, every song is like a wonderful essay without much repetition, which means I had to learn so much that it has made me put his role in the band into a whole new perspective.
"I noticed a lot of really neat little songwriting tricks that he uses a lot and it's only when you analyse them that you notice them, as when I just listen to them, I know it's really good, but you don't know why."
