Honda Unveil 'Ferris Bueller' Themed New Super Bowl Ad

A 'Ferris Bueller' inspired advert is at the centre of what is traditionally a big time of year for TV advertising in the US as the Super Bowl fast approaches. One of the most watched events in the world, with an estimated 100 million tuning in to view the showcase each year, it makes the time around it some of the most expensive commercial airspace going which means that companies often pull out all the stops to make sure that its their product that will stick in the audience's minds.
Honda are no different and for their campaign this year they've coerced Matthew Broderick - who, as Ferris Bueller, played one of the most-loved film characters in the past 30 years in the 1986 flick 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' - into reprising his role, sort of. Broderick is still playing himself but finds himself in a Bueller-like situation in that he doesn't want to go to work and calls his boss up to feign illness. A series of incidents follow wherein the now middle-aged actor makes the most of his day whilst driving around in, of course, a new Honda CR-V.
Mtv, for one, aren't overly convinced with the advert, wondering why Broderick didn't simply play Bueller, and making fun of the fact that - as in the original film - he comments "one of the worst performances of my life, and he never doubted it for a second." However it's unlikely to be an opinion shared, the advert's already gone viral online and garnered a huge response.
