Officials in Los Angeles declared Wednesday (07Sep11) Buddy Holly Day as his widow unveiled his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The late rock 'n' roll icon would have turned 75 on Wednesday and to mark the milestone, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce chiefs awarded him the 2,447th star.
Holly's widow Maria Elena accepted the prize, which is located outside the Capitol Records building on Hollywood Boulevard.
Pete Asher, Phil Everly and Gary Busey, who played the musician on film, paid tribute to the Peggy Sue hitmaker during the ceremony.
