Holliday Feels Forgotten During Dreamgirls Debut

Original DREAMGIRLS star JENNIFER HOLLIDAY is devastated by the treatment she has received from the people behind the big screen version of the musical, insisting she has been snubbed. The highly-anticipated $75 million (GBP38 million) movie musical, which stars JAMIE FOXX, BEYONCE KNOWLES and EDDIE MURPHY, is the film version of the 1981 Broadway musical, inspired by the story of DIANA ROSS and THE SUPREMES. The show became a smash hit - largely because of Holliday's stellar performance as lead character EFFIE WHITE, which earned her a Tony Award. Holliday claims her own legacy, as well as the commemoration of the musical's 25th anniversary, has been wiped out by the filmmakers who want to keep the spotlight on the movie's stars leading up to the Academy Awards. She says, "Why is it necessary for them to wipe out my existence in order for them to have their success? It's scary that they can be so cruel. "I know it's business, but why do they have to go to this extreme? I'm a human being." After weeks of suffering privately - after being left out of the Dreamgirls publicity campaign, Holliday reveals the final straw came as she watched JENNIFER HUDSON being interviewed on TV. As Hudson, who plays Effie in the new film, was chatting, Holliday's show-stopping hit AND I AM TELLING YOU I AM NOT GOING played in the background: "When I saw that, I just gave up. I thought, 'This is a hopeless situation. I am being cancelled out as an artist.'"
