Hit Us Crime Show Plans Move To Britain
04 January 2008The Hollywood Reporter has claimed that the makers of the crime show are in talks with Kudos, the production company behind SPOOKS and HUSTLE, to produce a London-based series.
It added that the British broadcaster is offering a longer than usual 13 episode initial series which would be based upon existing episodes of the programme but reworked for a UK audience.
A source from ITV told the Scotsman: "We are in advanced talks. There has been no deal done yet but it hopefully will be completed in the next month."
In America the long-running show is in its 18th series, making it the longest-running crime series on TV.
It follows the personal and professional lives of policed officers and lawyers in New York.
Starring Sam Waterson, JACK MCCOY and Jesse L Martin, the show has been running since 1990 and has spawned a number of spin-offs including LAW AND ORDER: CRIIMINAL INTENT and SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT.
This news followed recent reports that ITV is revamping its schedule in order to attract more viewers and advertisers.
Changes include moving the weekend screenings of Coronation Street to a week-day slot and launching a new "soap within a soap" ECHO BEACH/MOVING WALLPAPER.
