Jonah Hill - Hill Causes Airport Scare After 21 Jump Street Shoot

Actor Jonah Hill was recently stopped by airport security agents while making his way to New York - because he was still covered in explosive material from the 21 Jump Street set.
The Superbad funnyman was in Louisiana wrapping up an action scene with co-star Channing Tatum when he realised he was running short on time and in danger of missing his flight to the Big Apple.
Hill then rushed to the airport where he was promptly whisked away for questioning by Transportation Security Administration officials, who found explosive residue in his hair.
He says, "I was on set all night shooting this action scene with Channing and I had to go fly back to New York. And I go to the airport and they were like, 'Sir, we need to pull you in a back room and examine you.' And I'm like, 'What?'
"And apparently, because we're shooting guns and there's all these action scenes, I had explosive matter from my head to my toe and they thought I was a terrorist and I was bringing explosive matter onto the plane.
"It was like two hours (that) I was stuck in the room! And then finally one of the guys in the room was like, 'Hey, that's Jonah Hill! He's an actor, he's not a terrorist!' And they let me go."

The couple tied the knot in a tent surrounded by 300 of their friends and family, according to Us Weekly. Prinsloo wore a Marchesa dress for the 20 minute long ceremony and the couple requested, in lieu of wedding gifts, charitable donations be made. The couple will continue on to South Africa for their honeymoon.

Their guests included actors Robert Downey Jr, Jonah Hill, Jason Segal, and models Erin Heatherton and Candice Swanepoel. Levine' band mates were also present as were Prinsloo's fellow Victoria's Secret models. The band had some special roles including keyboardist Jesse Carmichael who was best man and guitarist James Valentine who was set to perform during the ceremony. Valentine was not the only special guest appearance as Stevie Nicks also flew in especially to perform at the ceremony.

Valentine recently gave an interview to Australian radio station 2DayFM and revealed some details about the ceremony. He explained how he would be playing whilst the guests were finding their seats. The 35-year-old stated "It's just another gig for me. I'm gonna be playing some solo acoustic guitar during the ceremony when people are walking [in]."

Valentine also mentioned Levine's state of mind leading up to his big day. As ABC News reports, Valentine said "I think he's really excited. I expected him to be more nervous. They're very amped up. They're very happy. It's going to be really fun." Levine certainly seemed "amped up" writing "Let's do this" on his Facebook page shortly before the wedding.

35-year-old Levine and 25-year-old Prinsloo began dating in June 2012. The couple briefly separated in 2013 but reconciled and became engaged last July. This is the first marriage for both Prinsloo and Levine. Both have previously been involved in long term relationships with models, Levine dating Anne Vyalitsyna between 2010 and 2012 whilst Prinsloo was in a relationship with Jamie Strachan between 2005 and 2012.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 4278892 Film Reviews

Bigger and even richer than the terrific 2010 hit animation, this sequel is also quite possibly the best action-adventure movie of the year. Not only are its big set-pieces thrillingly rendered with first-rate special effects, but the characters are complex and involving. And the script effortlessly combines jagged wit, youthful exuberance, heart-stopping romance and even some rather bleak emotions.

Five years have passed since Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) discovered his ability to interact with dragons, specifically his inseparable pal Toothless, bringing a new era of dragon-related fun to the small Viking island of Berk. But now his father Stoick (Gerard Butler) is talking about passing on the mantel of chief to Hiccup, and he's not sure he's ready for that. He'd much rather be out zooming over the ocean exploring uncharted lands. Then on one of his trips he encounters a group of dragon hunters led by Eret (Kit Harington), who is helping the notorious villain Drago (Djimon Hounsou) build an army. But this leads Hiccup to an even more startling discovery: his mother Valka (Cate Blanchett) turns out to be alive and running a secret sanctuary for dragons. Can they team up to stop Drago?

It's a rare film that manages to work equally well in the quiet moments as in the massive spectacle, but writer-director Dean DeBlois never wobbles at all. Without ever manipulating the audience, he seamlessly shifts from tear-inducing happiness to soaringly thrilling battle action to agonising emotional pain. The coming-of-age plot may feel familiar, but it's packed with fresh touches, hilarious observations and some surprising twists and turns along the way.

And for a film designed to look a bit cartoonish, it's eerily realistic thanks to ground-breaking animation that adds uncanny details to every scene. The 3D work pulls the audience into the story, especially in the goosebump-inducing airborne sequences. And the animators add small details as well, from the texture of skin and scales to the smallest mannerism. These characters are visually bursting with life and energy, and their personalities are even more vivid due to the lively vocal performances.

But beyond the technical achievement, this is a hugely resonant story of a young guy working out who he's going to be. Hiccup knows his father is a tough-guy leader, and now he discovers that his mother is a sensitive dragon-whisperer, but he needs to figure out who he is beyond who they want him to be. And this gives the film an unusually strong message about refusing to live up to expectations. Which of course a filmmaker working on a sequel knows something about.

'Think Like A Man Too' Set To Overtake '22 Jump Street' In Weekend Box Office? 4254233 News

Think Like A Man Too looks set to knock 22 Jump Street off the top of the US Weekend Box Office. The comedy, starring Kevin Hart, is estimated to overtake the Jonah Hill-Channing Tatum buddy comedy.

Kevin Hart stars in Think Like A Man Too.

Think Like A Man Too is the sequel to the 2012 comedy Think Like A Man. The sequel sees many of the ensemble cast reprise their roles as the couples head to Las Vegas for a wedding. Kevin Hart takes the lead in the comedy alongside Adam Brody, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrera, Regina Hall and La La Anthony.

22 Jump Street sees Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill reprising their 21 Jump Street roles as two undercover cops but this time in college rather than high school. The film has received positive reviews from critics and audiences have voted with their feet. 22 Jump Street opened last weekend (13th June) and earned an impressive $60 million. But on the opening night of Think Like A Man Too the film gained $12.2 million, so it's a distinct possibility that the newer film may overtake 22 Jump Street in this weekend's Box Office.

Another new arrival to the charts, Jersey Boys, has also fared well despite poor reviews from critics. Jersey Boys is the Clint Eastwood directed version of the hit musical based on Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. On the opening night, Jersey Boys gained $4.6 million coming in fourth in the Box Office.

22 Jump Street earned $9.4 million and was in second place whilst How To Train Your Dragon 2 came in at third place with a healthy $7.6 million. The top five in the Box Office chart was rounded off by Maleficent which gained $4 million, an impressive sum considering the film is in the third week of its release.

The Case For Channing Tatum To Stick To Making Comedy Movies 4246963 News

Over the past few years we’ve been confronted by the curious case of Channing Tatum. Mostly in the sense of wondering what kind of actor it is that Tatum wants to be? He first rose to fame as Tyler Gage in the 2006 dance movie Step Up and he became a teeny bopper heartthrob almost overnight. With his muscular physique and loose hips he quickly amassed a huge female fan base who have been loyal to him throughout his career.

Channing Tatum Comedy Actor Tatum met wife Jenna Dewa-Tatum when they starred in Step Up together

The natural progression (with a body like that) must have seemed to be action movies of chick flicks, and Tatum has dabbled in his fair share of both. Starring in movies like Dear John and The Vow, Tatum proved his leading man abilities and it seemed as though for a while he’d found his niche in the cheesy, tear-jerking genre.

In 2012 Tatum appeared in two films which would possibly change his career forever. The unexpected charm of stripping comedy/love story Magic Mike and the onscreen chemistry between Tatum and his 21 Jump Street partner Jonah Hill morphed his career from the flimsy to the downright promising.

21 Jump Street was a hit with the critics who praised Tatum and Hill and their performance as a comedy duo. Tatum then had a cameo in Hill’s 2013 comedy This is the End, appearing as himself, and was the voice of Superman in the hugely successful The Lego Movie.

The success of 21 Jump Street provided a follow up movie, 22 Jump Street, which was released on June 13 to rave reviews. The film currently holds an 84% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and Tatum and Hill’s chemistry was once again partly credited for the film’s success. Chicago Sun-Times film critic Bill Zwecker wrote: “Though I enjoyed enormously this latest offering in the rebooted Jump franchise, it’s the effortless, unexpected bromance/partnership between the two unlikely undercover cops is what makes this franchise work.”

Kristen Page-Kirby of the Washington Post went so far as to argue that “Channing Tatum sets the bar for physical comedy actors” in the film. She explains her statement: “It’s tough to find good-looking guys who can really do physical comedy; Keaton and Chaplin, who set the bar by which all others are measured, weren’t heartthrobs. Johnny Depp can do it; most of his Jack Sparrow performances are largely based on the physical. Tatum might be better, though.”

If that isn’t a good enough reason for Tatum to continue working in comedy, we don’t know what is. Step away from the chick flick script, Channing, you have a bright future in comedy!

'22 Jump Street' Tops US Box Office But Are New Releases This Weekend Serious Threats? 4246015 News

22 Jump Street and How To Train Your Dragon 2 have topped the US weekend box office. The two newcomers gained, respectively, first and second position knocking, The Fault In Our Stars off the top spot. The latter film has plummeted to fifth two weeks after its release. Maleficent remains in the top three, having being pushed out of second position by HTTYD2. But after two weeks, the Disney re-envisioning of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale is doing fairly well.

22 Jump Street
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum star in 22 Jump Street.

22 Jump Street, which stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as two undercover cops in college, has received positive reviews from critics and has evidently won over audiences with the reprisal of childish antics and easy laughs we encountered in the original, 21 Jump Street. It's the perfect film for the summer months and with the new competition released this weekend (20th June), may not be out of the box office top ten for some time. So what is on offer for this weekend?

Jersey Boys

Clint Eastwood directs this adaptation of the hit musical centring on Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons as they rose to fame in the late 1950s. John Lloyd Young stars as Frankie Valli and he is supported by an all star cast including Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can), Kathrine Narducci (The Sopranos) and Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire).

Early reviews of the film have been less than positive and it may prove a flop with audiences as much with critics. Variety's critic, Andrew Barker, wrote that whilst the film is evidently filled with impressive performances but is lacking in much less. Barker said "The relative dearth of prominent musical performances turns what could have been a dancing-in-the-aisles romp into a bit of a slog."

Think Like A Man Too

The sequel to the original, Think Like A Man, sees the couples reuniting in Las Vegas for a wedding. Starring Kevin Hart, Adam Brody, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrera, Regina Hall and La La Anthony have returned to star in Think Like A Man Too

The film has been widely anticipated by fans of the original but has been criticised by some for appearing as predominately aimed at black audiences. Hart has defended the film stating: "We made a film that everybody can enjoy. Just because you put a predominantly black cast in a movie does not mean that you're doing a black movie, it means that you're putting quality actors and actresses in a movie that can make a good damn film."

Whilst this weekend 22 Jump Street may safely remain at No.1, Transformers: Age of Extinction is due out the following week. The film, starring Mark Waklberg and Stanley Tucci, is due out on 27th June and owing to the franchise's past success it is likely to be a serious contender for the No.1 spot.

Jersey Boys is due to be released in the US and UK on 20th June. Whilst Think Like A Man Too is released in the US on 20th June and in the UK on 19th September.

After Solid Reviews, "22 Jump Street" Tops Weekend Box Office 4245353 News

And the weekend box office winner is... drumrol please… 22 Jump Street. With $60 million over the three-day period, The Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum starring college comedy easily topped the other new release this weekend – How to Train Your Dragon. Both sequels got a boost from built-in franchise audiences, but the family film Dragon made only $50 million – still an impressive payday, considering it was competing against another big studio sequel. In the end, it was a win-win for Hollywood, since the double release weekend means strong box office figures all around.

Channing Tatum Brags About His Diaper Changing Skills 4244743 News

Channing Tatum has made a pretty bold claim when it comes to his parenting skills. “I’m solid at diaper changing!” the Magic Mike actor revealed in an interview. He added: “If a guy isn’t good at changing a diaper I don’t know what he’s there for really, because for the first seven months or so, the mom is the end-all, be-all of everything.”

Channing and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum met on set of their 2006 movie Step Up and began dating soon after. They married in 2009 and on May 31 2013 their daughter Everly was born in London. “[Everly] does not like sitting still but I can [change the diaper] even when she’s crawling, standing up, doing the whole thing.”

Although Tatum has bragged about his mad diaper-changing skills, he does admit that there are a few little parenting accidents every now and then: “There’s always mishaps. The whole day is just a big ol’ mishap. I find it really fun. It’s always a different thing every day. Watching her experience things for the first time is amazing. She just saw a kite for the first time the other day and was just, like, “What? What is it?” It was crazy.”

Tatum is currently starring in the well-received 22 Jump Street with Jonah Hill and in autumn his forthcoming film Foxhunter will be released. Foxhunter follows the real events of John du Pont, played by Steve Carrell, who was responsible for the murder of Olympian Dave Schultz. The film created a lot of Oscar buzz when it premiered at Cannes last month.

Review Round-Up: 22 Jump Street 4244174 News

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill have returned as Morton Schmidt and Greg Jenko, the undercover cops we saw cause havoc and hilarity in 21 Jump Street. Only this time they've graduated high school and are heading to college. Critics loved the first movie, a modernisation of the hit 80s show of the same name, but has 22 Jump Street managed to impress?

It's A Sequel - But So What?

Sequels are always a gamble for producers. Whilst financially they usually do well, additional films to a franchise often do not gain positive reviews from critics. However, 22 Jump Street has broken this rule. The film's directors and writers have not done anything revolutionary in changing the formula for success with the sequel to 21 Jump Street. This has not hindered the film as critics are praising the sequel for self depreciating mockery. David Edelstein (Vulture) wrote "They get to poke fun at sequels and simultaneously make sequel money."

Moreover, as the critical response to the first film was largely positive, some critics have argued the film makers were right in not changing the basic premise of the film or its dependence on a particular type of humour which Hill revels in. Christy Lemire (Christylemire.com) wrote "22 Jump Street is pretty much the exact same movie as 21 Jump Street. It knows it, you know it, and it knows that you know it. And that is why it's brilliant."

Bromance Blooms

Hill and Tatum have been hailed as "Hollywood's freshest comedy duo" (Globe And Mail) and have certainly impressed critics with their on screen and off screen antics. In the film, the pair has been highly praised for their performances and comic timing. In fact, many critics have gone so far as to suggest the entire film franchise rests on the strength of Hill and Tatum's performance. Bill Zwecker (Chicago Sun Times) wrote "it's the effortless, unexpected bromance/partnership between the two unlikely undercover cops is what makes this franchise work."

Hill and Tatum's friendship on screen appears to be echoed off screen. The pair recently appeared together on The Graham Norton Show and described their off screen bromance which included Tatum forcibly dressing Hill whilst in Miami, and Tatum stripping off in a water feature in Australia.

Early In The Weekend, "22 Jump Street" Moves Ahead Of "How To Train Your Dragon 2" 4243921 News

The weekend’s box office scores are already taking shape. The race was bound to be neck and neck, but by the end of Friday, the Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill comedy 22 Jump Street emerged with a slight lead. The sequel banked $25 million on Friday and is on track for a $60 million weekend total, making it the second highest grossing R-rated comedy in history. This time around, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill play their familiar goofy cop buddies, who get sent to college for an undercover drugs bust.

Meanwhile, the animated How to Train Your Dragon 2 is falling slightly behind in the sequel face-off, with just $18.5 million and a projected $53 million weekend taking, according to Box Office Mojo. That’s still a very good score for Dreamworks, which has suffered a string of box-office misfires, including its most recent film, Mr. Peabody & Sherman.

The opening puts Dragon 2 on track to go well over the debut of the original, which made $43,7 million in its opening weekend back in 2010. It may not be enough to top 22 Jump Street's success, given the first franchise's loyal fanbase and generally positive reviews.
