High Frame-rate Tv Shows On Pirate Website

A handful of TV broadcasts shot at the ultra-high-definition 60-frames-per-second rate, have been turning up on the Pirate Bay BitTorrent network, TorrentFreak.com, which tracks BitTorrent usage, said today (Monday). Most of the videos reportedly are boxing and mixed martial arts affairs uploaded by Michael Stat of HFR [for High Frame Rate] Movies. Stat noted that he has heard that there are 60 fps [for frames per second] torrents of 2009's Star Trek and Avatar, and if so, that would be indeed significant because as of now the Blu-ray spec is not capable of handling the format. Copies of Douglas Trumbull's Showscan ride films, which were shot at 60 fps, are available on YouTube but not in the 60 fps format. (Indeed the quality of the films is poor.) Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was shot in 48 fps and released in a handful of theaters at that rate last December, but reaction to the process was mixed (some critics complained that it was too realistic for a film of that sort. It has not been released in that format for home video.
