Hfpa Member Commits Suicide On Eve Of Globes Awards
Max B. Miller, a longtime member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound on Monday, the day after the HFPA's Golden Globe awards. Although the apparent suicide was eerily reminiscent of the death of another HFPA member in 2005 after he was ousted from the group, friends doubted any similar connection, saying that Miller had been despondent over a divorce and financial woes. Curiously, however, his name is not included on the group's membership list posted on its website. An email inquiry to the group's publicist asking for an explanation of this omission was not answered.
