A man convicted of fatally shooting Mexican actor/singer Hermilio Franco during a botched robbery at his California property has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
The star, 53, was killed by Larry Paul Trujillo in November, 2010 as he confronted the burglar and an associate after they broke into his family home in Downey.
He managed to return fire and hit Trujillo in the neck, leaving him paralysed, while the second man, whose identity remains unknown, managed to escape.
Franco died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Trujillo pleaded no contest to a charge of first-degree murder in May (14) and he returned to a Los Angeles court last week (ends04Jul14), when he received his punishment.
The Californian rockers were defiant in their intention to play the venue once again.
