Hereafter Pulled From Japanese Cinemas

Clint Eastwood's 'Hereafter' has been pulled from cinemas in Japan following the country's recent earthquake.

The film directed by the Oscar winner and starring Matt Damon as a psychic who can see dead people, features terrifying tsunami scenes which distributor Warner Bros has deemed "not appropriate" after the country was hit on Friday (11.03.11) by a massive wave caused by an offshore earthquake, measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale.

Warner Entertainment Japan Inc. spokesman, Otani Satoru added that the company will also delay the release of big budget movie 'Aftershock' - the Chinese meloDrama drama based on the consequences of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake - in light of recent events.

He explained: "In view of the devastation caused by the earthquake and out of consideration for the victims and their families... we are delaying the release of 'Aftershock'."

'Hereafter' was released in 180 Japanese cinemas in late February and was scheduled to play until the end of this month.

The big-budget 'Aftershock' was set to be shown from March 26, with at least some of the proceeds promised for the victims of the recent New Zealand quake.
