Henry Bromell - Executive Producer of Homeland, Henry Bromell Dies

The Emmy Award winning executive director of Homeland has passed away at the age of 65, Fox News has reported. Henry Bromell died on Monday (March 18, 2013) at a hospital in the Los Angeles area though the cause of death has not yet been confirmed. Bromell’s friend and long-time agent Peter Benedek confirmed his death yesterday (March 19).

2012 was a hugely successful year for Bromell and the Homeland team, as they landed success at both the Emmy Awards and the Golden Globes for the Showtime drama, which has seen huge success on both sides of the Atlantic. In a statement, Showtime released their own statement regarding Bromell’s death, stating that he was “an immensely talented and prolific writer.” His fellow executive producers, Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon said “everybody here at Homeland is grieving and we will miss him beyond words.” Henry is survived by his wife Sarah and his sons William and Jake. Funeral plans have not yet been announced.

Bromell won a Humanitas prize back in 1992. The award is given to meaningful work that covers the human condition and Henry won for his TV drama I’ll Fly Away.’ In addition to Homeland, other past TV success for the executive producer include Northern Exposure, Rubicon and Chicago Hope.
