Heath Ledger's Father: Don't Blame The Joker For Dark Knight Rises Shooting

Heath Ledger 's father Kim has urged people not to associate his son's Oscar winning portrayal of The Joker, with the gunman James Holmes, who murdered 12 people and injured 59 others at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Denver.

Reports had suggested that the 24-year-old former neuroscience student was calling himself 'The Joker' on the evening of the incident, and he showed up in court this week sporting dyed orange hair. Heath Ledger - who died in 2008 - gave a career best performance as Batman's nemesis in Christopher Nolan's second movie in the trilogy 'The Dark Knight', though his father told Australia's Herald Sun, "We can't blame Heath or the [Joker] character. It's fictitious. I don't know what this does to the character. I think that's the least of my worries. I'd be more worried about the families and other people involved in the tragedy rather than anything else.". The Australian insisted that America should be assessing its gun laws in the wake of the shooting, saying, "It's terrible-the whole circumstances. The guy's obviously a nut case. He has obviously lost it. I think what America should be doing is restricting the availability of ammunition or revisiting their gun laws-that's what they should be doing". Speculation that police found a 'Joker' mask in Holmes' booby-trapped apartment is yet to be confirmed.

The shooting took place at a special midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Denver. Out of respect to those killed, Warner Bros cancelled the Paris premiere of the movie which was scheduled to go ahead the following night (July 20, 2012). This week, Batman star Christian Bale flew to Colorado to visit those still recovering in hospital.

America should be assessing how it deals with the mentally ill Mr. Ledger and certainly not following Australia down the dark path where only criminals can posses firearms. Your violence has escalated since your country went that way! And violence in means violence out, just like junk in junk out. We all know better here in the USA Mr. Ledger.

Real and Hollywood violence, yet another violation of our rights. The gov’t constantly violates our rights. They violate the 1st Amendment by caging protesters and banning books like "America Deceived II".They violate the 4th and 5th Amendment by allowing TSA to grope you. They violate the entire Constitution by starting undeclared wars.Impeach Obama, support Ron Paul.Last link of "America Deceived II" before it is completely banned:amazon/America-Deceived-II-Possession-interrogation/dp/1450257437

Bond,em is SO right, This freaking attack on innocents has drug up so much scummy attack against our Constitution, which guarantees our freedom from tyranny, that this non-joking j'oker' almost, ALMOST looks like a government plant! We were given a right to keep and bear arms to PROTECT us! Now, you want to disarm us? WHY??? SO we can become King Obama Subjects? Oh, hey! its not that far-fetched. Napoleon did it, (after George Washington and co liberated us) and Zeig Heil Hitler did it, basically, before he was finally stopped, VERY recently in history! And they both started out lower on the political totem pole than Obama did. Look! Any man that would BOW to and kiss a king's ring thinks being a king is a GOOD idea. Disgusting to think that some people would put themselves above another. We are free men and women, who have the RIGHT to protect ourselves from tyranny! Geo and Co saw to it... I submit that if there had been enough people who were carrying in the theater, many of the dead would still be alive now, and there would have been FAR more people saved than were damaged, and the idiot that did this evil deed would be lying very still on a cold slab right now, instead of costing the taxpayers eventually millions of dollars in barred housing, court, and attorney fees. Then there is the cost of cooking his adze. Thanks, bond,em for sticking up for sanity and for freedom! Carefully protect our Constitutional Rights, else you will become subject to another human with grandiose plans to use you as their wallet-filler and/or slave. No thanks.
