Steven Tyler - Hawaii Senate Passes Steven Tyler's Privacy Act

Senate members in Hawaii have voted in favour of Steven Tyler's proposed bill to protect the privacy of celebrities vacationing in the state.

The so-called Steven Tyler Act will now go to America's House of Representatives for consideration after state Senate officials announced the passing of the bill on Tuesday (05Mar13).

According to Yahoo! News, 23 of the 25 state Senate members voted in favour of the legislation, which will make it easier for stars to sue snappers who try to photograph them while in the islands.

Tyler, who has a property on Maui, testified in a Hawaii court last month (Feb13), explaining, "When I'm in my own home and I'm taking a shower or changing clothes or eating or spending Christmas with my children, and I see paparazzi a mile away, shooting at me with lenses this long, and then seeing that very picture in People magazine, you know, it hurts...That's what they do, they are just constantly taking from us."

Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood, Britney Spears, Neil Diamond and Avril Lavigne have all thrown their support behind the Aerosmith star's campaign to tighten privacy laws in Hawaii.
