Hathaway's Ex Arrested On Fraud Charges

ANNE HATHAWAY's ex-boyfriend has been arrested on suspicion of federal wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering.

Italian businessman Raffaello Follieri - who was reportedly dumped by the Devil Wears Prada star earlier this month (Jun08) - is to be hauled in front of a judge at New York's Manhattan federal court on Tuesday (24Jun08).

According to website TMZ.com, he is accused of lying to an investor, claiming he was working as the chief financial officer for the Vatican.

Police allege Follieri tricked his business associates with the lie and was able to purchase various U.S. properties owned by the Catholic church at a lower market rate.

This incident is the latest in a long line of shady dealings involving Follieri. He was arrested earlier this year (08) for passing a bad cheque and was sued by a former business partner in 2007.

	Perhaps now Anne will accept that Follieri is quite simply a criminal. Although there has been a huge amount of publcity regarding their supposed break up, only five days ago she went out to dinner with him, and the photo published certainly suggests nothing had changed. This seems to suggest this break up was simply a publicity stunt, to promote her and her film, his arrest may well save her bacon, had she continued their relationshp I doubt if many would have believed anything she said ever again. Hopefully whatever hold Follieri had over her will now be ended. There is no doubt that he would have ruined her life and career. She appears to have had a lucky escape. She seems to have matured greatly this last year, lets hope she dose not make the same mistake again.
