Former ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner Nadiya Hussain may have just ruled herself out of joining up with the programme when it moves to its new home on Channel 4 next year, announcing some “interesting projects” in a new statement pledging her immediate future to ‘The One Show’ – and perhaps to a rival baking show.

The 31 year old, who won the sixth series of ‘Bake Off’ in 2015, said in a press release from the BBC on Friday (October 14th): “Since winning The Great British Bake Off I’ve been lucky to have had some amazing opportunities with the BBC. I believe that making it my home gives me the scope to work across such a unique range of diverse and interesting projects.”

Nadiya has recently made a series of short films for ‘The One Show’, as well as starring in a two-part documentary about her Bangladeshi family background, 'The Chronicles of Nadiya'.

As arguably the most high-profile former winner of the show, speculation has mounted that Nadiya might be tapped by Channel 4 to plug the gap in presenting, considering that three out of four of the current line-up won’t be making the move.

However, it’s possible to see the latest press release as a sign that she won’t do so and, by referring to the BBC as her "home", that she might be part of a potential rival show that the BBC might set up.

The current series of ‘Great British Bake Off’ has just two episodes left, which will bring an end to an era of its home on the BBC. The next full series will be shown on Channel 4 in 2017, after the network concluded a huge £75 million three-year deal for the ratings favourite last month.

However, judge Mary Berry and co-presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins have all announced that they won’t be going along with the move, meaning Berry’s fellow judge Paul Hollywood is the only original member of the show left.
