Has Ann Romney Been Offered A Role In 'Modern Family'?
Modern Family creators have offered Ann Romney a role on the show after she said that it's her favourite show. However, it may not be quite the generous offer that it first appears to be, as the show's creator Steve Levitan was using the PR opportunity to make a sly dig at her husband Mitt Romney and his anti-gay-marriage stance. On Twitter, Levitan wrote "Thrilled Ann Romney says ModFam is her favorite show. We'll offer her the role of officiant at Mitch [and] Cam's wedding. As soon as it's legal."
Mitt Romney has been unrelenting in his anti-gay-marriage opinions, during his political campaigning. Just a few months ago, whilst he was on the campaign trail in Oklahoma, he told reporters "I have the same view on marriage that I had when I was governor. I believe marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman." Meanwhile, Ann doesn't appear to have responded to Levitan's enticing casting offer - at least not publicly, anyway. Instead, she's been tweeting messages of support for her husband, such as "MittRomney? is the man who will work harder than anyone so that we can work a little less hard. ?GOP2012?? ?WeBuiltIt??"
Meanwhile, things have been far from happy in the Modern family camp, of late. Levitan has been busy in the midst of actors - including Sofia Vergara - squabbling over pay disputes, holding out from rehearsals and threatening lawsuits. Perhaps he really is looking for new casts members - Ann Romney might well be in with a genuine chance of landing a role, at this rate.
