Harry Potter - Harry Potter Breaks U.k. Box Office Records
The final installment in the Harry Potter franchise has smashed a number of box office records in the U.K after making a magical $36.8 million (£23 million) in its opening weekend (15-17Jul11).
The highly-anticipated Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was released in Britain on Friday (15Jul11), and quickly became a record-breaker.
It scored the U.K.'s highest-grossing three-day weekend, the biggest Friday result, biggest Saturday result and biggest single day figures, all which were previously set by the last Potter movie, released last year (10).
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 - which made £23.7 million (£18.3 million) in its first weekend - still holds the record for the biggest Sunday result in the U.K. and Ireland.
The new movie has already taken more than $475.6 million (£295.6 million) worldwide and shattered records in America and Canada with a weekend haul of $168.6 million (£105.3 million).
