Harrison Memorial Plans Abandoned
Plans for a GEORGE HARRISON memorial in the late BEATLE's former adopted home of Oxfordshire, England, have been ditched. Harrison, who died on cancer in November 2001 aged 58, adored living in Henley-on-Thames, and his widow OLIVIA and son DHANI have been discussing the possibility of a statue or memorial garden in honour of the guitarist with local authorities. But councillors claim they are unable to reach an agreement with Olivia and Dhani - and the plans have been abandoned. Mayor BARRY EDWARDS says, "We proposed a memorial and this has now been with the family for three years, but they're not keen on it being in the town. They preferred something along the river where he used to walk. "Things haven't moved on and I'm sorry to say that there's now nothing planned."
