Hank Williams Jr Dropped For Comparing Obama To Hitler
Williams, a Republican, had appeared on the Fox News morning show 'Fox and Friends' and was asked which of his party's presidential candidates he preferred. The singer replied, "Nobody", before discussing Obama's recent golf round with Republican speaker John Boehner, saying, "The golf game they had? That was one of the biggest political mistakes ever ... It'd be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu". The singer, known for his blend of southern rock and traditional country, later called Obama and his Vice President Joe Biden "the enemy". In response, Espn pulled Williams' famous "Are you ready for some football?" song which has been used on sports broadcasts for 20 years. The network said in a statement, "We are extremely disappointed with his comments and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight's telecast".
In his own statement, Hank attempted to clarify the statements, saying, "I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me. They're polar opposites and it made no sense ... I have always respected the office of the president".
