Hancock Gives Smith Another Big Box Office Weekend
The weekend estimates mean Smith's new film Hancock - about a reluctant superhero - has topped $100 million (GBP50 million) since it first hit cinemas on Tuesday night (01Jul08).
Hancock is Smith's fifth movie to open at number one in the U.S. over the Fourth of July weekend.
The movie also lands Smith in the record books - he becomes the first star to score eight $100 million (GBP50 million) movies in a row.
Last week's box office number one, Disney-Pixar film Wall-E, falls to two on the new chart with an impressive $33.4 million (GBP16.7 million), taking its 10-day total to $128 million (GBP64 million).
