Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez were thought to be expecting a baby boy, but the actress has since denied the reports.
Halle Berry has denied rumours she is expecting a baby boy.
A spokesman for the 46-year-old Oscar-winning actress has confirmed that Halle and her French fiancé of 15 months, Olivier are expecting their first child together, but it is unknown whether they are awaiting the arrival of a boy or girl, contrary to previous reports.
Speaking to CNN, Halle said: ''I feel fantastic. This has been the biggest surprise of my life to tell you the truth. I thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful.''
Halle then told CNN she didn't know if she was having a boy, as some media outlets have reported.
Their baby will be a sibling for Halle's daughter, Nahla, 5, whose father is Canadian model Gabriel Aubry.
The former fashion model was in a bitter custody feud with Gabriel when she wanted to move to France with Nahla, but the estranged couple finally reached a settlement in November.
Last year, Halle claimed her daughter was keen to become a big sister.
She said:''Every night, we do our prayers, and Nahla says, ''God, please bring me a bunk bed and a baby sister''.
''And I say, ''I can do one of those things, I know for sure. The other one, we've got to keep praying on.''
