Gwyneth Paltrow - Gwyneth Paltrow Wins Emmy For Glee Cameo

Gwyneth Paltrow won an EMMY award for her guest role in hit TV show Glee on Saturday night (10.11.2011)

The 38-year-old actress was presented with the Outstanding Guest Actress Award for her appearance as substitute teacher Holly Holiday. Recent speculation suggests the actress may turn music into her second career; as well as being married to Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin she can also be heard singing in the movie Country Strong alongside Tim Mcgraw, which is the story of a rising singer-songwriter who works with a former star trying to reach former glories. The awards were handed out in Los Angeles and saw pop star Justin Timberlake pick up two awards for his guest appearance on comedy show Saturday Night Live as well as a second for best original music and lyrics also for Saturday Night Live. Another big winner on the night was crime drama Boardwalk Empire which won awards for make-up, picture editing and art direction.

Paltrow is a Los Angeles native and comes from a performing family; her mother Blythe Danner is also an actress (most recently known for playing Dina Byrnes in Meet The Parents) and her father Bruce Paltrow was a director. Her career began by appearing in several small movie and television roles but gained notable attention when she starred opposite Brad Pitt in 1995 thriller Se7en. She then went on to become an A-list actress and starred in movies such as The Talented Mr. Ripley and Shakespeare in Love which won her an ACADEMY-award for Best Supporting Actress. She can currently be seen in new drama, Contagion, which is the story of a deadly virus that threatens mankind and the team of scientists who must find a cure.
