Green Day Fans Take Over Central Park For Free Concert

Punk rockers Green Day sent thousands of screaming fans flocking to New York's Central Park on Friday (22May09), when they played a free concert live on U.S. TV.

Followers spilled out onto the streets of the Big Apple after the band's performance at Rumsey Playfield, which kicked off Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series on ABC.

The rockers treated fans to old hits and songs from their latest album 21st Century Breakdown for the show, celebrating the record's success at the top of the U.S. album charts this week (begs18May09).

Music fans will have a string of free live shows to look forward to as part of the TV series. Lionel Richie, John Legend, The Jonas Brothers, Jamie Foxx, Brad Paisley and Queen Latifah have already been lined-up to perform in the weeks ahead.
