Beyonce & Andre 3000 Drop Cover of Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black' [Listen]

Beyonce has teamed up with Andre 3000 for a rendition of the Amy Winehouse instant classic 'Back to Black,' with this track being the latest sample of the Great Gatsby soundtrack, with the song premiering on the record's original producer Mark Ronson's EastVillageRadio.com radio show this weekend.

The cover is the latest teaser to be dropped from the Jay-Z helmed soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, with such notable artists as Lana Del Rey, The xx, and Florence + The Machine also slated to appear on the soundtrack. Although Mark seemed relatively happy with the reworking of his song, one person who didn't seem to appreciate the cover was Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, who took to Twitter shortly after the song was aired to vent his frustrations. Clearly unimpressed, Mitch wrote a scathing critique of Andre's delivery, writing "just heard the Andre part of Back to Black. Terrible. He should have let Beyonce do it all."

Beyonce features with Andre 3000 on the cover, but do they do the song any justice?

Mitch had previously discussed his dissatisfaction with the song to the UK's Daily Mail, during which he voiced his dissatisfaction with the whole song, not just Andre's contribution, saying that Beyonce brought nothing to the remake and that in order to get the release of the cover, "They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can’t tell you how much it is but it’s a lot of money."

The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the mysterious Gatsby and also features Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire. It hits cinemas May 10 in the US and on May 16 in the UK. You can listen to the (heavily tagged) radio rip below and see if it really is as bad as Mitch claims it to be, whilst a sampler of the full album is also available online.
