Grateful Lake Urges Fans To Get Fire Extinguishers And Alarms

Actress and TV personality RICKI LAKE has urged her fans to invest in fire extinguishers after a blaze devastated her Los Angeles home on Saturday (18Sep10).
The star, who appeared in the original 1988 Hairspray film, was refuelling a portable heater in the rental Malibu property when her sofa went up in flames and spread through the house.
Lake managed to escape the fire unharmed with her two sons and dogs.
The family is now staying with friends - and the star just feels "blessed" and "grateful" that she and her family were uninjured.
And Lake is now calling out to Americans to equip their homes with anti-fire devices.
Her spokesperson says, "She urges everyone to get smoke detectors and fire extinguishers."
